D55 30600 12 hours

This course currently has no upcoming scheduled dates. Please check back here soon.

This six session series will focus on the resources of Canada and Manitoba. Particular attention will be paid to energy resources - their use, misuse and abuse - and their consequential environmental impact.

Time permitting, we will trace the dynamics of energy resource preferences as they have changed in recent decades in the face of: trends in unit price; economics and; technological change generally.

Changing perceptions of acceptable environmental impact and expectations of mitigation locally, nationally and globally will be analyzed from circa 1500 AD onward.

The course concludes with a tour d' horizon of relative resource endowments and the environmental impact of each mode of energy production and use.
