To provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to help children learn mathematics.  Discussion will focus on the changing math curriculum, the use of technology in math, and the nature by which children learn math.  Students will learn strategies to assist students in groups or individually in the classroom setting. 

 

Objectives

  • To provide practical knowledge and develop necessary skills for helping children learn math

Outcomes

  • Knowledge about and development of skills necessary to help children learn mathematics
  • Understanding of the evolving Early Years Math Program, of using technology in math and of how children learn math
  • Review of concepts of place value, whole number operations, measuring, geometry and number patterns
