Ethan Nguyen : Student Success Story
Ethan Nguyen said his PACE program gave him the competitive edge he needed to enter the workforce in a new country. Ethan graduated from the Managerial and Financial Leadership Diploma program in 2015, and within weeks found employment at Loblaws where he has progressed to the position of Finance Coordinator.
Ethan chose his program to complement the bachelor’s degree in finance he earned in Vietnam and to gain greater familiarity with Canadian business practices. He says his experience at PACE “had a huge impact” on his career and he would highly recommend studying there.
“For me as an immigrant, finding a job in Winnipeg without any Canadian work experience or education would be a challenge,” he said. “But the education I had when I entered the workplace allowed me to find a job right away.”
Ethan notes that the program covered a great deal of ground in a short period of time — Managerial and Financial Leadership takes one year to complete — and how supportive his instructors and classmates were.
He’s also pleased that it led to a career with an employer with a culture he can appreciate. “They are pretty open to ideas,” he said. “As long as you have an idea, you can present it and pursue it. They accept change; not every company is like that.”
