Matthew

Honey

Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, Matthew Honey has lived and worked in multiple provinces, in a variety of careers. With a farming background in Ontario, he moved to Edmonton, Alberta to join a rock band and tour Canada. He then settled down to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Concordia University of Edmonton. He went on to become a Technology Consultant for Staples and then a Xerox technician. Eventually a career change was calling, and he (and his wife) moved to Banff, Alberta to learn the coffee industry. After a year’s experience in a café, they packed up and moved to
St. Andrew’s-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick where they opened and ran their own café business for just over a decade. That business was Honeybeans Coffee, Tea & Treats which is still serving the community today under its new owner. After selling the business, Matthew enjoyed a short, but very enjoyable stint as the manager of the Charlotte County Archives in St. Andrews, NB. However, a new career change was in store when his wife accepted a new job in Winnipeg, Manitoba, prompting them to pack up and move.

Matthew is now a graduate of the University of Winnipeg P.A.C.E. program in Web Development. After completing his internship at the ALS Society of Manitoba (ALSMB), he was hired on to become their Web Development/Support & Communications Coordinator. After a year with ALSMB, Matthew accepted a new job as the Gift Coordinator of Central Canada for Lutheran Foundation Canada. Besides gift development, he also manages the Foundation’s website and continues to manage the ALSMB website. When not working one of his numerous jobs, he can be found researching antique arms and posting his findings on Emrys Arms – his own personal website. His story is evidence that you are never too old to start a new path. With a little dedication, you can accomplish anything!
