I am working as a Web/Software Developer at Iders Incorporated in Oakbank, Manitoba.
I chose the Web Development Diploma (formerly Internet Systems Specialist Diploma) program to keep pace with the times and new trends in the information technology industry. Completing the program has been an important step in pursuing my career. I was working as a Software Programmer making single user database software for small businesses. The program gave me knowledge of website-based software development and helped me to develop skills in building database-driven websites, working in Java software development and E-commerce projects. The skills I gained in the program helped me to start my career as a Web/Software developer.
I chose the University of Winnipeg to pursue the web development program as I was interested in the subject area and in being part of the dynamic and growing UW campus. The UW is becoming a downtown hub that connects people from diverse cultures and nurtures global citizens. The University offers high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs including several that are unique to Western Canada. I was confident that completing the program would open up employment opportunities in my field of interest. With regards to The University of Winnipeg, students benefit from being taught in a research environment where instructors share their expertise and classrooms are outfitted to meet the needs of the program and the students.
