This course establishes an understanding of the evolution of data science and AI and builds a foundational understanding of how data-driven approaches can benefit organizations. Techniques for data retrieval, preparation, analysis and visualization are introduced and using hands-on exercises, programming skills used in the remainder of the program are established.
Prerequisites
Each course fee is paid for at the time of registration.
Outcomes
On completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the history and evolution of data science
- Describe benefits and challenges in the application of data science within and organization and society overall
- Create a business case, outlining expected costs and benefits, for the application of data science within an organizational
- Implement data acquisition and cleansing techniques used to extract data from databases, websites, and social media platforms using database platforms and programming languages
