The opportunity to secure an internship was one of the main reasons I chose the Human Resource Management program with UWinnipeg PACE. Internships are meant to set students up for success, which remains true of my experience.
The HR program at PACE provided me with coveted industry knowledge, eligibility for CPHR and CIM designation, and opportunities I couldn't find elsewhere. This program focused my learning with a targeted educational path, delivered in an accelerated format that reduced the length of time I spent outside the workforce.
The internship process at PACE is comprehensive and provides students with real-world experience and the opportunity to apply academic knowledge within the industry.
The knowledge, skills, and relationships I gained from my internship with Birchwood Automotive Group are critical and have helped me establish meaningful experience and connections within the HR industry.
I couldn't have asked for a better organization and environment to apply my academic knowledge and grow, both as an HR professional and individual.
During the internship, I was given respect, guidance, trust, and feedback while completing the assigned tasks. It has been three days since the end of my 4-week internship at Birchwood, and I have received four interview requests and two conditional offers of employment.
I was fortunate to be chosen and wholeheartedly embraced by an organization where I felt loved, respected, and appreciated. The experience, knowledge, and relationships I have gained are irreplaceable!
My advice for anyone taking this program would be to come in with an open mind, knowledge share with your colleagues, organize yourself appropriately and be ready to contribute meaningfully. Meeting new peers and developing solid industry connections and relationships that have grown into long-lasting friendships has been among the most memorable experiences at PACE for me.
