What is the application process for a diploma or certificate program?

1: Before You Apply

Learn about the admissions criteria including academic requirements and English Language proficiency.

2: Prepare Forms & Documents

Begin the admissions process by creating your online application, and preparing the required documents.  Learn about the Admission Process.

3: Submit Your Application

Complete the online admissions form and submit your application for admission along with the non-refundable $125 application fee.

4: Admission & Acceptance

Depending on your level of education (Bachelor, Masters or Ph.d and your work experience) you may be notified of meeting the admission criteria as quickly at 1-2 weeks.

Students interested in a diploma or certificate program at PACE are encouraged to to meet with an enrolment advisor for additional information.

What are the program requirements?

Depending on your program of interest, admission requirements may vary.

Academic Requirements

  • International students are required to hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 60% or equivalent in the national grading scheme
    • A Higher National Diploma from Nigeria and Ghana are exceptions
  • The Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) or Final Percentage on these transcripts will be assessed for eligibility.
  • Artificial Intelligence Post-Degree Diploma requires a Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related degree. Advanced programming knowledge is strongly recommended.
  • Financial Management Post-Degree Diploma requires a Business or related bachelor degree.
  • Network Security Post-Degree Diploma requires Bachelor Degree in IT, Computer Science, Design or a Bachelor Degree and a minimum of one year of technical experience working in IT.
  • Predictive Analytics Post-Degree Diploma requires a Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related degree. Advanced programming knowledge is strongly recommended.
  • Web Development Post-Degree Diploma requires a Bachelor Degree in IT, Computer Science, Design or a Bachelor Degree and a minimum of one year of technical experience working in IT (programming and software development preferred).

Work Experience

The following programs require a minimum of 1-year related professional work experience:

The following programs require a minimum of 2-years related professional work experience:

  • Artificial Intellligence (in applied computer science, applied statistics, engineering, or a business role involving the use/analysis of data)
  • Predictive Analytics (in applied computer science, applied statistics, engineering, or a business role involving the use/analysis of data)

*In cases where the number of applicants exceeds the available spaces, applicants will be assessed on the following criteria: amount of, and type of work experience, academic grades, and proficiency in English.

How long does it take to complete a full-time program at PACE?

Depending on your program of study, you can earn your diploma is just over one year.

Most of our full time programs are 12 - 13 months in duration allowing you to earn your university credentials in just over a year and launch your career.  These programs are extremely intense, with accelerated learning.

We also offer a number of extended programs, that range from 16 to 24 months.

Most of our part time programs are designed for you to complete within one year. With a combination of online learning opprtunities and flexible in-class schedules (with evening and weekend classes), you set the pace for your studies.

Does PACE accept transfer credit?

Yes, we have many eligible transfer credits that you may use towards your program completion.

Guidelines for Acceptance of Transfer Credit
  • Course must be from a Canadian or U.S. accredited educational institution
  • Course must be current within the past 5 years (some exceptions apply)
  • Technology courses must be current within the past 2 years (some exceptions apply)
  • Must have achieved a C+ (66%) or better according to the PACE equivalency
  • Transfer credits cannot exceed the maximum transfer credit allowed
  • Original transcript is required
  • Course Outline is required for non-pre-approved transfer credit requests*
  • Request(s) must be made at the time of application. Request(s) will not be considered after application to the program is accepted (full time students only)
  • Assessment is completed after acceptance into program

There is a $25 fee for all transfer credit requests (per course) - Does not apply to courses taken at UW or UWPACE.

How do I register for a course?

Domestic part-time students can register for individual courses online.

Full-time students accepted into a program of study are automatically enrolled in the courses for their program.

What is the cost of the program and courses at PACE?

Depending on the mode of study and program enrolled in, the tution fees vary.

What options do i have to pay for a program or course?

Payment Options

Please Note: During the COVID-19 pandemic, PACE is temporarily amending how payments can be made.

  • Flywire - Wire transfer funds to The University of Winnipeg (see Wire Transfers above for more information).
  • Online/Internet Banking (from a Canadian bank) – Students make the payment by choosing UW as the Payee and using their student number as the account number.

Note: Please inquire with your financial institution regarding any daily withdrawal limits associated with your debit/bank card and credit cards prior to arrival in Canada to avoid inconvenience. It may take several days to the funds to show up in your account, please make sure you provide ample time for the funds to be transferred (see Wire Transfer above).

Can I get a student loan to pay for a program?

Students attending programs at PACE are eligible for many funding possibilities such as bursaries, scholarships, government student aid, lines of credit, and sponsorship.

Domest students may be elgible for Manitoba Student Aid and/or the Canada Student Loan program.

What if I have a medical condition or disability?

In collaboration with the students, faculty, and staff at The University of Winnipeg, Accessibility Services (AS) and the Accessibility Resource Centre (ARC) facilitate and promote the ongoing development of an accessible learning environment which provides students with disabilities or medical conditions the opportunity to participate fully in all aspects of campus life. Does completion of a PACE program qualify for academic credits towards a degree at UWinnipeg?

Yes, some programs may include courses that are eligible for academic credit toward a degree at The University of Winnipeg. Please visit our Pathways to UW Degrees page for this detailed information.

Where do I get parking or transit information?

There are many parking and transit options for getting to class. UW PACE is located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, well serviced by most major bus routes.

As a PACE student, you may be entitled to a discounted Winnipeg Transit pass. Student passes can ONLY be purchased at the UWSA Info Booth located in Centennial Hall. For more information about parking at The University of Winnipeg, please visit Parking Information.

How do I graduate?

Once you have completed the applicable courses in your program you are eligible to graduate (use student planning in Webadvisor to validate). To complete your graduation form please login to WebAdvisor, choose Current Student, and PACE Apply for Graduation. We hope you are able to attend the Convocation which takes place annually in October. All graduates from the prior year are invited and encourages to attend. You will receive an inviation to the last email address you provided.
