Congratulations Graduates!

We hope you are able to attend the Convocation which takes place October 13, 2023 to celebrate your achievement.

Gown orders open August 28, 2023. The deadline to RSVP to convocation by ordering your gown is Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:59 PM (CST).

Graduate Checklist for October 13, 2023

  • 12:45 – 1:45 Pick up your processional card and gown in the Axworthy Health & RecPlex, 350 Spence Street.
    • You need your processional card to pick-up your cap and gown and to line-up in the graduation procession.
      • During the ceremony, you will present this card to the Registrar before you cross the stage. It will be used to announce your name as you receive your certificate or diploma.
    • Please note: Personal items/purses should be left with your family or friends or we suggest you wear a garment with pockets underneath your gown.
  • 1:30-2:00 Report to marshaling area in Axworthy Health & RecPlex. Procession will leave the marshaling area at 2:15 pm sharp.
    • The Graduation Procession follows a route that involves an extended walking path which includes a set of stairs with no handrails. Please email us if you feel this may be a concern and an alternate procession arrangement will be made.
      • Please note that due to the number of stairs and flooring in the RecPlex, we do NOT recommend you wear shoes with high heels.
      • Cell phones are to be turned off during the ceremony and should be left with family or friends.
    • Remember to take your procession card to the stage with you as this will be used to announce your name.
    • The cap tassel should be worn over the right front edge of the cap during the procession and prior to officially graduating.
  • 4:00-4:30 Return your gown to Gaspard set up outside of Riddell Hall where the reception is held. Students who do not return their gown after graduation will be charged a rental fee.

Accessibility Supports

Graduates with limited mobility should know that the Graduation Procession follows an extended walking path which includes a set of stairs with no handrails.

If this is a concern, alternate arrangements can be made. Access to the stage involves a small number of stairs with a single hand rail or a ramp. During the ceremony, you are also required to stand for an extended period of time before going on stage. We strongly advise students or guests who have limited mobility or accessibility needs to arrive early. Doors will open one hour before the ceremony begins.

American Sign Language-English interpretation will be provided for the duration of the Graduation ceremony.

Photography

Stage Shot Photos

The university engages a professional photographer to take your picture as you receive your parchment on stage. To order one of these photos, you must print and bring this form to the ceremony.

Seated Graduation Photos by Lifetouch

Professional Graduation photographs will be available through Life Touch on November 20, 2023. Book a portrait session online.

Portrait appointments must be pre-booked. Seated portrait sessions are $20. Download more information about seated portrait sessions.

Note: Guests are not permitted to take photographs on the floor or on the track directly behind the stage.

Certificates/Diplomas

You will be provided with a generic blank certificate when you cross the stage. This is to ensure a smooth flow to the ceremony. Your official certificate/diploma will be mailed to you, if you have not already received it.

Frames & Gifts

Certificate frames and keepsakes may be purchased after the graduation ceremony from the Alumni Association booth located on the second floor of the Duckworth Centre.

The campus bookstore will be on-site at graduation to sell souvenirs such as mugs, pens, portfolios, clothing, etc.

Refreshments

Light refreshments will be served immediately after the Graduation ceremony in Riddell Hall.
