Internship Spotlight: Rita Wong

Earlier this fall Rita Wong rounded out her Human Resource Management Diploma with an internship at Celero, under the guidance of PACE alumna Grace Neko,HR Generalist, People & Culture.

“We have had an amazing time working with Rita Wong as our HR intern for this period,” said Grace. “Rita has been a great addition to the team she has worked on and contributed to various Strategic People and Culture initiatives.”

Some of the projects Rita worked on during her internship included reviewing and consolidating 2022 Employee Engagement and process improvement surveys; contributing to the review of our current onboarding workflow; review of the drafted value add performance evaluation template that will support calibration, as well as providing research base insights on the talent acquisition process.

Internship partners like Cerelo provide a crucial opportunity for students who excelled in their program to put their skills into practice.

“The internship has been a great opportunity for us to apply what we have learned from the program, leverage our personal experience elsewhere, and transfer it into real-life practice,” said Rita.

Rita said the broad spectrum of human resource knowledge and practice in the program combined with insights into Canadian standards and other business aspects such as financial fundamentals, organizational behaviour prepared her to launch her career after finishing the program.

“I would say as a newcomer, the PACE program effectively prepared me with a better understanding and a smoother integration into the country.”

“The broad spectrum gives us as HRM students a more holistic view of the organizational priorities and the strategic role of Human Resources in today’s world. The instructors’ generosity in sharing their personal life experiences brings extra enrichment,” said Rita.
