This foundational course provides an overview of business analysis, based on standards defined by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). Students will learn the context for business analysis and how it supports the continuous need for change in organizations in the ever-evolving business landscape. Business analysis can be applied in a wide variety of industries, domains, and may use a wide variety of tools and techniques. This course will explain the core knowledge areas and define key elements of each area. This course will also discuss the IIBA specialized certifications and domains, including Business Data Analytics, Product Ownership Analysis, Agile Analysis, and Cybersecurity Analysis.
Outcomes
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Explain key aspects and requirements for IIBA core (ECBA, CCBA, CBAP) and specialized certifications (CBDA, CPOA, AAC, CCA)
- Explain relationship and importance of process re-engineering, Lean Six Sigma and Organizational Change Management specializations
- Identify and describe the IIBA knowledge areas, including key inputs and outputs
- Explain the role of business analysis to support successful organizations
