This course will focus on the tools and techniques applied in planning, estimating and scheduling construction, engineering, and architecture projects. The course will balance theoretical and practical concepts and practices through lectures, demonstrations, class discussions, exercises and assignments. Students will learn to assess the feasibility of a construction project during the initiation of the project. Students will continue to expand on their knowledge and use unit rates, apply industry trends and work through scheduling exercises. Learning activities will focus on the appraisal of a project's goals, construction methods, bid/tender assessment, including the consideration of alternative green strategies, site conditions, environment, labour, safety, and finances.

  • Planning, Estimating & Scheduling

Each course fee is paid for at the time of registration.

Outcomes
  1. On completion of this course, students will:
    1. Be able to use a system to monitor and control the scope, budget, and schedule of a construction project.
    2. Choose appropriate methods, tools, and techniques for creating and monitoring a project management plan in the construction industry.
    3. Develop a construction plan from initiation to close-out. Being able to plan out the execution and monitoring/control throughout the life of a construction project.
    4. Develop a theoretical understanding and working knowledge in project planning, estimating and planning in relation to construction, engineering, and architecture.
