In 2017, one in five (22%) of the Canadian population aged 15 years and over – or about 6.2 million individuals – had one or more disabilities. Here in Manitoba, the disability community is made up of one in four Manitobans. In response to the growing need for more accessible goods, services and environments, The Manitoba Government passed the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA)in 2013, spelling out employers’ obligations to create more accessible and inclusive workplaces.
Accessibility and workplace accommodation has been brought to light even more so during the global pandemic including demands for increased mental health support in the workplace with nearly 500,000 Canadians missing work each week due to mental health issues. This 2-day Seminar explores the roll of HR in creating supportive, accessible and inclusive workplaces for all Manitobans.
