This course will explore cultural and ethnic diversity in the classroom focusing on the sensitivity of non-verbal cues, learning styles, and negotiation of classroom culture. The question “What is the Canadian Culture?” and what make us unique as Canadians from the culture perspective will be examined. Cultural values of newcomers to Canada will be explored and how they fit in the framework of the Canadian culture. The emphasis of the course is to increase awareness and develop respect for diversity. This course will provide students with an awareness of cultural and ethnic diversity and an understanding of cross cultural awareness and how it relates to learning.

This course will be offered in a blended format. Blended courses combine live virtual meeting and lecture times with independent study. Course Dates: May 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 26, 28.
