This course establishes a foundation of computer science knowledge which is foundational further learning in data science and AI languages. Focusing on the essential database and programming skills, this course will prepare students to work with modern data science concepts, programming languages, and database platforms. Tools used to manage code and collaborate with teams are also introduced.

Outcomes

On completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Design data structures to house, manage, and analyze data.
  • Design data structures for data transmission using JSON and XML.
  • Acquire and prepare data using relational database technologies, data acquisition tools, and SQL.
  • Use productivity tools to manage and version code.
  • Design and implement basic algorithms using object-oriented and procedural programming languages.
