This hands-on course teaches students the basics of setting up their development environment for the cross-platform programming language (e.g. React Native) focused on in future courses, version control, and familiarizes them with using GitHub to manage versions of their code.
Students will learn how to set up their development environment and GitHub account, clone a repository, create a branch, stash, commit with clear and communicative commit messages, push and pull changes, handle merge conflicts, as well as run emulators for Android devices.
Students will also be given an understanding of the importance of maintaining their git repository as a portfolio of their work for employers.
