Whether you are promoting a product, explaining an idea, or communicating a vision, the way you present and respond to others can greatly affect your success in the workplace. This course is designed to help you become a more effective communicator. You will learn how to plan, create, organize and deliver effective oral presentations and increase your interpersonal communication skills.

Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Develop the skills and confidence necessary to deliver powerful presentations, demonstrating effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques.
  • Develop effective techniques for integrating visual aids with oral communication to deliver cohesive and impactful presentations.
  • Adapt oral communication strategies, content, tone, and style to align with the characteristics and preferences of the target audience and create messages and narratives that are relevant, relatable, and meaningful to the audience.
  • Understand how to effectively provide criticism and feedback that promotes learning, development, and collaboration, and understand the importance and purpose of giving productive criticism and feedback in personal and professional contexts.
  • Apply active listening techniques to enhance understanding and engagement in conversations.
  • The ability to recognize and apply effective strategies for incorporating research and data into their presentations, enhancing their credibility (ethos) as speakers.
