This course introduces students to important topics and concepts about computer networks, beginning with their basic purpose and discussing why they are useful. This course provides a solid foundation in the core concepts of data communication on electronic networks. It also explores different types of networks and network services, their requirements, and the myriad of networking hardware available. Focusing on the TCP/IP suite of protocols (as used on the Internet, and related networks), students will learn all about networking and internetworking, as well. Topics will include packet structure, subnetting, architecture, and routing form.
