Students diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)  pose considerable challenges for both teachers and educational assistants. This workshop examines the definitions of the terms, cause, diagnostic procedures and methods of helping students learn academic and life skills. The various aspects of these alcohol-related disorders will be discussed with the goal of providing participants with useful information and practical skills.

Objectives
  • To provide the fundamental knowledge necessary for working with students with FASD
Outcomes
  • Understanding of definitions and causes of FASD as well as related diagnostic procedures
  • Knowledge of practical strategies for helping students with FASD learn academic and life skills
