DPS 57060 6 Hours

This seminar is an introduction on how to write a case study report for the Supply Chain Management Diploma Program (PACE). Case studies are written essays outlining a specific problem a business is undergoing. They are typically drawn from real life situations and include both qualitative and quantitative data.

Cases can vary in length ranging anywhere from 5 – 10 pages (with appendix). They are usually written in the form of a story, in the first person.

Students are required to analyze cases using a specific methodology (developed by Supply Chain Canada) and submit written reports (to be graded).

In this seminar, students will get an overview of what a case is, the steps used to analyze and then write the written report. Students will also be provided the marking rubric used to evaluate their written reports. In order to assist the students, a case outline and format guide will available.

Outcomes

Upon completion of this seminar, students will be able to:

  • use the case study methodology to respond to a case study problem
  • apply the concept of strategy as it applies to a case study
  • use the analytical tools required for a case study written report, including:
  • SWOT Analysis
  • Porter’s Five Forces
  • Evaluation Matrix
