Web Application Development Diploma

Programs Page

From essential training in web design and developing, and deploying web applications to project management and business writing skills, this program develops a complete skill set for web development professionals. Graduates gain experience with a wide variety of web programming technologies and developing modern back-end solutions for data storage with attention to security and scalability.

Tuition & Fees

$15,600: Tuition includes UWSA and health insurance fees. Costs are subject to change.*

$1,500 - $2,000: Textbook and software costs may vary depending on new, rental, used, or electronic purchasing choices. Textbooks and software are a requirement.

Duration

12 months in duration, Mon-Fri, days and hours vary and classes may be scheduled during the daytime or evenings between 9AM and 4PM. Some courses may be delivered in our blended online format.

Holidays and breaks are provided throughout the program duration.

Objectives & Outcomes

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, graduate will be able to:

  • Design an appropriate user interface
  • Implement their UI designs using an understanding of standard front end development, languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Design and implement the architecture required to support the business requirements using a MVC design pattern in a flexible back-end development language
  • Set up a local server for application data storage
  • Configure cloud resources for the data storage of the application
  • Transition a local server data storage solution to a cloud server
  • Identify and mitigate security risks for both an on-premise and cloud server

Academic Requirements

a. High School, with minimum 1 credit in an IT-related course
or
b. Completion of IT professional designations
or
c. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in IT
or
d. One of the following:
     i. Principles of Mathematics 12 (67%)
     or
     ii. Applications of Mathematics 12 (73%)
     or
     iii. Pre-Calculus 12 (67%)

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting one of the accepted English language proficiency measures.

Tech Requirements

Students must have a laptop that meets the tech requirements for their program (not included in tuition).

  • CPU: Multicore Intel® or AMD processor (2 GHz or faster processor with SSE 4.2 or later) with 64-bit support.
  • RAM: 8GB of RAM (16GB recommended)
  • Graphics card: 2 GB of VRAM
  • Hard Disk space: 256GB (500GB recommended)
  • Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 or 11  (64 bit) (versions Windows 10 versions  20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and Windows 11 version 21H2)
Apple hardware
  • Processor: Multicore Intel® processor (2 GHz or faster processor with SSE 4.2 or later) with 64-bit support or Apple silicon/M1
  • Operating system: macOS 12.0 (Monterey), version 11 (big sur) and version 10.15 (Catalina)
  • RAM: 8GB (16GB recommended)
  • Hard disk space: 256GB (500GB SSD recommended)
  • Software to run Virtualization for Microsoft Windows:
    • Parallels Desktop or VirtualBox

This full-time program includes an un-paid internship opportunity. The internship will help you develop a working portfolio and gain tangible work experience.
