Web Development Diploma

Programs Page

From essential training in project management and business writing, to web security, information architecture, and network administration this program develops a complete skill set for IT professionals. Graduates gain experience with a wide variety of web programming technologies (including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and PHP programming.

Duration

12 months in duration, Mon-Fri, days and hours vary and classes may be scheduled during the day time or evenings between 9AM and 9PM.

Holidays and breaks provided throughout program duration.

Objectives & Outcomes

Objectives

  • Develop hands-on skills in web development applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, PHP, ASP.net, and Java;
  • Apply Adobe Photoshop to the visual design of Websites;
  • Gain a solid understanding of best practices in search engine optimization (SEO);
  • Create web pages in past, current, and emerging standards using HTML, XHTML, CSS, and XML
  • Create rich multimedia files using Flash
  • Use, edit and customize Dreamweaver and a variety of content management systems including Wordpress, Drupal, and Joomla for agile web development purposes;
  • Plan, design, and create relational database systems;
  • Understand TCP/IP and Networking in general to help trouble shoot issues and design solutions to potential performance problems;
  • Gain an understanding of security problems in order to install, set-up, and secure a Web server.

Academic Requirements

a. High School, with minimum 1 credit in an IT-related course
or
b. Completion of IT professional designations
or
c. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in IT
or
d. One of the following:
     i. Principles of Mathematics 12 (67%)
     or
     ii. Applications of Mathematics 12 (73%)
     or
     iii. Pre-Calculus 12 (67%)

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting one of the accepted English language proficiency measures.

Students must have a laptop that meets the tech requirements for their program (not included in tuition).

  • CPU: Intel Dual core I5 or I7 or AMD Dual-core A9
  • Memory: 8GB or 16GB
  • Display and Graphics: 15 inches LCD, can handle 1920 x 1080 Resolution (2GB ram)
  • HardDrive: at least 256GB (highly recommended SSD)
  • Windows 10
Mac hardware
  • Intel Dual Core I5 or I7
  • Memory: 8GB or 16GB
  • Graphics and Video display: 15 inches Brilliant Retina display with any type of video cards from Apple should work with at least of 2GB of RAM
  • HardDrive: at least 256GB (highly recommended SSD)
  • Software to run Virtualization for Microsoft windows: Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion
