Advanced Business Management- International Students

Programs Page

This new program is developed for those that want to enhance their management and leadership skills while earning three university certificate credentials. This program includes a Management Certificate, Emerging Leaders Certificate, and Applied Project Management Certificate. In addition the program earns graduates the opportunity for the Certified in Management (CIM) designation through our partner CIM/Chartered Managers Canada.

Whether you are looking to enhance your existing skills or start a new career, the Advanced Business Management program will get you to your goals.

This program also includes many additional benefits such as: enhanced writing courses, student life opportunities, and an internship at the end of the program. The program is delivered in a fashion that allows students to work while attending school.

We plan to offer this program as scheduled in May 2021. This program will begin in a blended online format and transition to in-person delivery as soon as it is deemed safe to do so by public health authorities.

Tuition & Fees

$12,655: Tuition cost includes the $100.00 UWSA Fee and health insurance fees. Costs are subject to change*.

$1,000: Textbook costs may vary depending on new, rental, used, or electronic purchasing choices. Textbooks are a requirement.

*Please note there is a fee increase scheduled for Advanced Business Management. As of September 2021 tuition fee for this program will be $13,415.

Objective

This program is for individuals interested in:

OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this program you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate effectiveness in interpersonal and team communication skills.
  • Demonstrate skills in written communications by writing clear and concise messages using plain English
  • Describe the major principles of business management and their interrelationships
  • Employ principles of effective oral communications and effectively facilitate meetings and groups
  • Explain key concepts of organizational behaviour and the behaviour of individuals and groups in organizations
  • Utilize effective problem solving techniques
  • Create and execute project work plans, define project scopes and deliverables, determine project resources and staffing requirements, set project milestones, develop budget proposals, and successfully close a variety of projects;
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the procurement life cycle;
  • Create a project management communication plans;
  • Manage changes in project scope, create comprehensive risk profiles, and identify and develop mitigation and avoidance strategies;
  • Foster a dynamic team environment built on collaborative relationships.
  • Gain knowledge, skills and confidence for your new role in a management or leadership position
  • Take your current leadership skills to the next level and acquire a credential
  • Prepare to take on a leadership role in your personal or professional life

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • International students are required to hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree
    • A Higher National Diploma from Nigeria and Ghana are exceptions
  • The Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) or Final Percentage on these transcripts will be assessed for eligibility.
    • If a higher degree is attained (post-graduate diploma, Master’s, or PhD) the minimum GPA or Percentage must be attained in all degrees.
  • Applicants with a 2-year diploma will be considered if they have seven years professional work experience.

Work Experience

  • Advanced Business Management applicants with a Bachelor degree must have a minimum of one year professional work experience.
  • Advanced Business Management applicants with a 2-year diploma must have a minimum of seven years professional work experience.

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting one of the accepted English language proficiency measures.

Students applying to The University of Winnipeg PACE during the COVID-19 crisis, may use the following online testing options to meet their English language requirements for applications to our 2021 programs:

  • Duolingo English Test with a minimum test score of 120, with at least a Production score of 100
  • IELTS Indicator with a minimum overall academic band score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 for the writing and reading categories
  • TOEFL iBT "Special Home Edition Test" with a minimum score of 86 with no less than 20 in each component (internet-based)

The University reserves the right to request English language proficiency testing result documentation for any international applicant.
