Hanif Young is an accomplished Senior Project Manager, IT Consultant, and Educator with over 20 years of experience leading complex technology and business transformation projects. With a deep background in project and program management, ERP solutions, communications networks, cybersecurity, technology consulting, cloud computing and AI, Hanif has successfully modernized IT infrastructures and business processes for large organizations across North America and the Caribbean. His ability to bridge the gap between business strategy and technology has made him a trusted advisor for public and private sector enterprises.
A passionate educator, Hanif has played a pivotal role in developing and delivering high-impact project management courses. He created all content for, and successfully delivered the Project Development Approaches course three times at the UW PACE in 2024, receiving exceptional reviews from students. Additionally, he has instructed courses on Project Initiation and Planning and Project Monitoring and Controlling, equipping students with the practical tools and frameworks needed to thrive in real-world project environments.
What truly sets Hanif apart is his unique and engaging teaching style, which blends real-world case studies, interactive discussions, and hands-on learning. He has a remarkable ability to simplify complex concepts and make them relatable, ensuring students not only understand project management theories but also know how to apply them in practice. His dynamic energy, storytelling approach, and humor keep students fully engaged, making even the most technical topics enjoyable. Hanif believes in learning by doing, often incorporating live simulations, collaborative, driven decision-making exercises, and real-time project problem-solving into his sessions.
Beyond the classroom, Hanif is deeply involved in mentoring future project leaders. As IT Director (2020-2024) and VP Operations and President-Elect of PMI Manitoba (2024), he actively contributed to (and still does) the advancement of project management best practices and professional development initiatives. His passion for mentoring extends beyond formal roles—he is known for coaching aspiring project managers and providing career guidance to help professionals navigate the evolving landscape of IT, project management and leadership. Hanif also enjoys reading, is an avid sports fan, and soccer coach at the WSEU Club in Winnipeg. He is also a media volunteer at Springs Church.
Whether leading high-stakes IT projects, shaping the next generation of project leaders, or consulting on cutting-edge digital transformations, Hanif is committed to excellence, innovation, and knowledge-sharing. His students and colleagues alike recognize him as a mentor, a thought leader, and a true champion of lifelong learning.
