This course is designed to equip project managers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage information security (IS) risks in both information technology (IT) and non-IT projects. With the increasing reliance on technology in business operations, managing IS risks has become essential for successful project execution. Students will explore key IS principles, compliance standards, and risk management strategies vital for protecting sensitive data. This course covers security concepts such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA), alongside industry standards like ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST. Students will also learn to integrate security controls throughout the project lifecycle while balancing security needs with project constraints such as schedule, cost, and resources. Additionally, students will examine the critical role of project managers in ensuring compliance and fostering a security-aware project environment, ultimately increasing the likelihood of successful project outcomes.
