This course is designed to equip students with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage projects in the fast-paced and dynamic world of Information Technology (IT) environments. Students will explore project management frameworks, methodologies, and tools with a focus on the specific challenges and complexities that arise in IT projects. The course covers essential project management concepts such as scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, resource, stakeholder, and communication management, while integrating IT-specific considerations like technology lifecycles, agile and hybrid practices, and software development methodologies. Students will also examine change management strategies to enhance adaptability, stakeholder engagement, and user adoption, thereby increasing the probability of IT project success. Students will also learn how to bridge the gap between business objectives and technological solutions while managing change effectively in IT-driven environments.

Prerequisites

  • Project Management Fundamentals

Each course fee is paid for at the time of registration.

Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Use advanced project management terminology and identify key concepts related to scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, resource, stakeholder, and communication management within IT projects.
  • Apply project management frameworks, methodologies, and tools to effectively manage IT projects, addressing the unique challenges of technology-driven environments.
  • Integrate change management strategies to enhance adaptability, stakeholder engagement, and user adoption, contributing to the successful delivery of IT projects.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that align business objectives with technological solutions, incorporating IT-specific considerations such as technology lifecycles, agile methodologies, and software development practices.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional teams, establishing clear roles and responsibilities while managing stakeholder expectations and communication in IT project settings.
  • Gain practical experience by applying learned skills to real-world scenarios, preparing students to plan, execute, and manage IT projects effectively, ensuring alignment with business goals and successful project delivery.
