In the ever-evolving digital landscape, ensuring accessibility is essential for creating inclusive experiences. In this seminar, students will obtain a foundational understanding of digital accessibility and cover key principles, common barriers, and best practices for making content more inclusive. Participants will explore accessibility guidelines such as The Accessibility for Manitobans Act and WCAG 2.1 Level AA, while also learning how to structure, write, and design content to improve usability for diverse audiences. The seminar will introduce tools and techniques for evaluating accessibility and ensuring content meets industry standards. By the end of this seminar, participants will have a deeper understanding of the principles behind accessible writing and design and be able to apply them to their own digital content.

Upon completion of this seminar, students will be able to:
- Recognize common accessibility barriers and apply best practices to mitigate them
- Identify regulatory acts that impact digital materials
- Explain the impact of The Accessibility for Manitobans Act and WCAG 2.1 Level AA on digital materials
- Apply The Accessibility for Manitobans Act and WCAG 2.1 Level AA to digital content

This is an online seminar that will be offered in a blended format. Blended seminars combine live virtual lectures at a set class time with independent study. The Nexus course site for this seminar will open 5 days prior to the first day of class. The course outline and any Zoom links will only be posted to Nexus.
Students must register a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar to ensure access to the Nexus course site before the seminar begins. Students who register with less than 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar may not receive access to their Nexus course site in time and may miss the seminar.
