An effective diversity and inclusion strategy is proven to enhance employee engagement, build an organization’s brand and stock value, and enhance its ability to acquire and retain new talent.

In order to have a workforce that is reflective of the markets and clients it serves, organizations need to take a proactive and intentional approach to diversity, meaningful inclusion and equity. Creating a workplace environment which is supportive and encouraging for all people is a significant challenge. This session will provide participants with tools and a framework for establishing, or enhancing, their organizational diversity and inclusion program.

 

Prerequisites

Must be admitted to the Advanced Certificate in People Management to register for this program.

Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the differences between, and importance of, diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace
  • Have strategies to undertake a needs assessment to determine whether organizational change is needed
  • Determine linkages to other HR policies and practices that may support, or undermine, diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Have identified barriers to employment for Aboriginal peoples and outlined industry-appropriate strategies for attracting and retaining Aboriginal candidates
