This seminar will be an introduction to human resource management within the Canadian environment; including recruitment, selection, training, and performance management. Students will have an overview of the areas of responsibilities and general principles of HR management that project managers will experience.

Outcomes

On completion of this course, students will:

  • Develop the knowledge, skills and concepts needed to resolve actual human resource management problems or issues
  • Understand the influence of government legislation on Human Resources
  • Manage the employment relationship, which is a shared responsibility between employers, management, human resources specialists, and employees
  • Understand the components of training new and existing employees
  • Evaluate the procedures and practices used for recruiting and selecting suitable employees
