“I was hired within a few days of graduating,” says Mark Hildahl, who completed his Educational Assistant Diploma at UWinnipeg PACE in the fall of 2018.
“I saw UWinnipeg PACE as a progressive, diverse university,” says Mark, who says location also factored into his decision when choosing where to continue his education. “It was in central Winnipeg which worked well for me commuting to school by bike- also the teachers let me bring my bike into class!”
As an Educational Assistant, Mark works in the Skills for Living Program in the Louis Riel School Division where he supports students with physical and intellectual disabilities. Mark assists students in integrating into the school and classroom environment. This can include taking students to gym class, music class, lunch, recess, swimming, as well as providing support and guidance during many other school activities.
“The PACE program gave me the training I needed to feel comfortable and confident as an Educational Assistant. The course was well organized and the instructors had a wealth of experience in education and were able to impart their knowledge on us and I feel very confident about working in my field.”
