All people have milestones that mark significant events in their lifetime. For me, one of the most important of them was coming to Canada and starting the Network Security program at The University of Winnipeg, Professional, Applied and Continuing Education (PACE) in August 2019.
Although I had a hard time as a newcomer in the first months, very soon I got used to all the new things, thanks to the help of my instructors, classmates, PACE staff, and "Friendly Manitoba"’s people. I could not believe the great opportunities here. Owing to the intensive post-degree diploma in Network Security plus a Management Certificate, I landed a high-level job in September 2020, amid the pandemic and just as I was completing my program.
Once you’ve graduated you’ll have the knowledge and skills you need plus the specific techniques to be seen and succeed in interviews. Together with the management courses in my program, the job preparation courses, like the Resume Building & Job Seach Techniques course, are very helpful for getting a job after graduation. After building my new resume with the same skills and education as on my older version, I was invited for three interviews in a two-week duration.
My advice to you is do not be afraid to achieve your dreams, no matter what your circumstances. I did it at the age of 35. I believed in myself, I worked hard, and I achieved my dreams. You can do it as well, just get started!
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all my instructors and PACE staff who have helped and supported me during the program.
