Tranquil Thursday

De-stress with origami

All you need is a couple of squares of paper!

Join this family friendly activity at 12:15PM on Zoom on Thursday (password foldpaper).

This is a guided workshop by Dana Lance, Youth Program Coordinator at Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba.

If you'd like to use some fun paper for this activity (other than the back of drafts of old assignments), contact ArtsJunktion Mb Inc. a community-based, charitable organization committed to redistributing reusable materials. Located in the Exchange, ArtsJunktion operates on a pay-what-you can model for reclaimed craft supplies and has some great paper in-stock, as well as a number of pre-made crafting kits.  You can arrange for a curbside pick up of supplies!

Relax with yoga

Take some time to unwind with a 1-hour relaxing yoga practice, filmed exclusively for PACE.

As a bonus if you'd prefer there is also an energizing practice.

Check-in with mindfulness

Use this curated list of mindfulness videos to try a guided meditation practice & learn more about mindfulness:

  • Introduction to meditation & guided meditation hosted by UWSA & UWinnipeg Student Wellness (recorded January 2021)
    • Meet Brian, one of the counsellors from UWinnipeg Student Wellness, learn more about types of mindfulness & meditation, and follow a short 10 minute guided practice.
  • STOP for Mindfulness by About Kids Health
    • This is an animated video that highlights practical and simple ways to incorporate mindfulness practices into your everyday using the acronym STOP.
    • Stop, Take a breath, Observe, and Proceed to become more observant and aware.
  • Mindfulness: Youth Voices by Kelty Mental Health
    • This video highlights challenges people face daily, e.g., frustration, depression, and anxiety. It also focuses on how using mindfulness practices can help us to look at life more positively.
