If you’re booking recreation classes through the City of Winnipeg website, you might come across some of Jorabar Singh Saini's work! During his 4-week internship at the City of Winnipeg, Jorabar learned and developed from scratch a Vue.js Single Page Application sourced through Open Data to show Leisure Online courses.
"We threw both ancient tech and new development stacks at him and he excelled at both," said Andrew Burton, Coordinator of Data Services at the City of Winnipeg.
Jorabar said the internship experience has helped prepare him to launch his career in several ways, including helping him learn about Canadian corporate culture.
“It helped me learn how a team works together and how a leader helps direct them to the right path. Also it helped me learn new technologies like ASP and bootstrap,“ said Jorabar, whose internship took place remotely.
“I learned how to keep myself and others up to date in this remote environment and how to be responsible and accountable for your own tasks,” he said.
“Jorabar was able to take very general directions and apply them perfectly for our needs," said Todd Demers, Staffing & Diversity Assistant at the City of Winnipeg.
Thank you to the team at the City of Winnipeg to welcoming Jorabar onto the team for this placement.
We wish you the best of luck as you embark on your career in Canada, Jorabar!
