“I loved being an intern at the City of Winnipeg because they made me feel like a valued colleague, and everyone in the team showed their support,” said Raymond Bernardo, who interned with The City of Winnipeg’s Parking Authority to compete his Advanced Business Management program this fall.

Putting the skills and theory learned throughout our programs to the test in internships is a critical step for many students to consolidate their previous experiences with new learnings. In Paul’s case, the opportunity to work on both large and small projects did just that.

“I was able to apply database management, operations management, including professional written and oral communication skills, during the entirety of my internship.

 “They asked me to do a few small projects (website change implementation, driver database, etc.) and let me lead a big project to confirm the taxicab vehicle waitlist applications. I felt empowered to make decisions, and they allowed me to respond to queries from applicants for my project. My supervising manager and the administrative clerk I worked with valued my inputs and suggestions and made me feel part of the team,” said Raymond.
