This course introduces the basics of application planning and information architecture. It reviews the three-tier architecture model of a web application and explains the key differences between a static website and an application. Additionally, it explores how organizing systems can help optimize the user experience in navigating through different types of online information systems.
Students will learn how to read and respond to a request for proposal (RFP), to develop effective information architecture based on complex content requirements and user needs, and to use planning tools like user flows, wireframes, cost estimates, and work-backs.
This hands-on course will help students better understand the overall structure of a web application and the planning process required for its development.
