Meet Ruth Agim-Adie. Ruth landed a job a Program Coordinator at Sexton Group Ltd. Right after graduating from our Advanced Business Management program with the Class of 2021 this October.
“Looking back from where I am at now, I can confidently say that pursuing my postgraduate education at PACE was a great decision that will continue to pay off in my career,” said Ruth. “PACE created the right environment and support pre- and post-schooling; to ensure not just getting the education but fitting into the Canadian workplace.”
“This has been very beneficial to me in securing a job so quickly, also adapting to my new work environment as well.”
As a Program Coordinator at Sexton Group, a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-growth company in the Canadian building supply industry, Ruth is responsible for negotiating, managing, and administering various vendor programs, ensuring that the needs of the various vendors and members are met on a day-to-day basis.
"The world is constantly evolving into a virtual space and the pandemic helped to hasten this," said Ruth, who graduated from one of our programs that was delivered in our blended online classrooms that combine live online lectures with guided independent activity during the height of the pandemic, Ruth said she found advantages to learning online.
"I must say that having gained an education in a virtual space has been really helpful to enable me to adapt to these changes in my work environment as well."
"My most unique experience is the attention and dedication of the instructors all through the program; the instructors have rich experience in their individual fields and are willing to share their professional experience which was pivotal to my understanding of the Canadian job industry."
Ruth's advice to other students pursuing a PACE program is to take advantage of the practical learnings and professionals you have as classmates.
"The group task and class activities served as a very good opportunity for me to improve on my soft skills."
And as for starting a program as an international student, Ruth says you get used to it. Ruth held an MBA from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Nigeria prior to joining her PACE program.
"It might seem overwhelming at the beginning for a lot of students coming from a different educational experience and exposure in their home country just like me; I would say use this as an opportunity to prepare yourself for your work experience in Canada, everything is pretty fast paced in the work environment as well."
