Digital media is in increasing demand, whether for a government organization, a non-profit entity, or a for-profit business. Digital channels provide opportunities for greater reach, increased connectivity, better monitoring, and increased return-on-investment, and are being chosen over traditional alternatives at an increasing rate.
The Digital & Social Media Marketing Certificate program is designed to provide students with the fundamental skills needed to develop an effective digital and social media marketing strategy that contributes to overall business success, regardless of sector.
This hands-on program provides focused and industry-aligned instruction that includes real-world scenarios in a university setting. This part time program is delivered by local professionals who bring up-to-the-minute experience and examples, helping students get a solid understanding of how to use digital and social media to further business.
The program can be completed in 12-18 months. Students have up to five years to complete the program requirements.

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting one of the accepted English language proficiency measures. Completion of one of the following courses & three seminars (which are specific to the Digital & Social Media Marketing Certificate). Seminars may be taken in any order.
The Digital and Social Media Marketing Certificate program was developed in conjunction with an advisory committee of industry professionals comprised of Winnipeg-based digital and social media professionals, University of Winnipeg graduates, and academics who played a fundamental role in determining the need for this type of programming within the local market and in the development of this program. Industries represented on the advisory committee included Dooley PR, Direct Focus, SkipTheDishes, Bell MTS, Western Financial Group Insurance Solutions, MPG Sport/Mondetta, New Media Manitoba, Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and McKim Communications Group.

The program consists of three components: four core courses, one elective and three seminars (which are specific to the Digital and Social Media Marketing Certificate). All courses are 36 hours, and seminars are 7 hours, unless otherwise noted.
