Admission Requirements

Domestic - Full Time Programs

Are you seeking a progressive education along with an exceptional student experience? The diploma and certificate programs at UWinnipeg PACE offer unparalleled advantages with small class sizes and specialized accelerated programs designed to help you advance in approximately one-year.

Below are the admission requirements for domestic applicants to our full time programs.

Academic Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Be a high school graduate or hold a Mature Status Diploma.
    • MUST provide High School Transcript or recognized equivalent GED or Mature Grade 12 Diploma.

OR

  • Be 18 years of age or older and have completed 90 hours of coursework or more at a recognized post-secondary institution (including UWinnipeg PACE) with minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
    • MUST provide an official transcript for all previous post-secondary study (including university, CEGEP, or private college).

In cases where the number of applicants exceeds the available spaces, applicants will be assessed on the following criteria: amount of, and type of work experience; academic grades; and proficiency in English.


Programs with Additional Requirements

Artificial Intelligence Diploma
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two years of professional work experience in applied computer science, applied statistics, engineering, or a business role involving the use/analysis of data.
  • Advanced knoweldge of programming is strongly recommended .
Finance Management Diploma
  • Applicants must have Mathematics 40S (Pre-Calculus, Applied, or Essential/Consumer)
  • Applicants who do not possess a degree must have a minimum of five years of work experience; experience related to the financial industry is preferred.
  • Applicants that do possess a degree must have three years of work experience; experience related to the financial industry is preferred.
Human Resource Management Diploma
  • Applicants who do not possess a degree must have a minimum of five years of work experience; management experience is preferred
  • Applicants that do possess a degree must have three years of work experience; management experience is preferred
Marketing Management Diploma
  • Applicants must have one year of work experience
Network Security Diploma

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

1. High School, with minimum 1 credit in an IT-related course
or
2. Completion of IT professional designations
or
3. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in IT
or
4. One of the following:
     i. Principles of Mathematics 12 (67%)
     or
     ii. Applications of Mathematics 12 (73%)
     or
     iii. Pre-Calculus 12 (67%)

Predictive Analytics Diploma
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two years of professional work experience in applied computer science, applied statistics, engineering, or a business role involving the use/analysis of data.
  • Advanced knoweldge of programming is strongly recommended .
Project Management Diploma
  • Applicants who do not possess a degree must have a minimum of three years of work experience
  • Applicants that do possess a degree must have one year of work experience
Supply Chain Management Diploma
  • Applicants who do not possess a degree must have a minimum of three years of work experience
  • Applicants that do possess a degree must have one year of work experience
Web Development Diploma
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

1. High School, with minimum 1 credit in an IT-related course
or
2. Completion of IT professional designations
or
3. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in IT
or
4. One of the following:
     i. Principles of Mathematics 12 (67%)
     or
     ii. Applications of Mathematics 12 (73%)
     or
     iii. Pre-Calculus 12 (67%)

Others will be evaluated at the discretion of the admissions team.

The University may request a Letter of Intent and Reference Letters.

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting ONE of the accepted English language proficiency measures. Download the UWPACE English Language Requirements (PDF) for additional English proficiency tests and programs and waiver options for the English language requirement.

Students applying to The University of Winnipeg PACE during the COVID-19 crisis, may use the following online testing options to meet their English language requirements for applications:

  • Duolingo English Test with a minimum test score of 120, with at least a Production score of 100*
  • IELTS Indicator with a minimum overall academic band score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 for the writing and reading categories*.
  • TOEFL iBT "Special Home Edition Test" with a minimum score of 86 with no less than 19 in each component (internet-based)*.

*Admission into the Public Relations, Marketing & Strategic Communication Diploma requires:

  • TOEFL (internet-based) - A minimum overall score of 94 in the TOEFL (internet-based) with at least 25 in the TOEFL Writing category.
  • IELTS Academic - An overall academic IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum score of 6.5 in the academic IELTS Reading and Writing categories.
  • Duolingo - A minimum test score of 125, with at least a Production score of 105

The University reserves the right to request English language proficiency testing result documentation for any applicant whose education was completed outside of Canada.
