Important Update: Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) Pathways Remain Open
There has been some misinformation regarding MPNP, leading some to believe that Manitoba has suspended or closed key immigration pathways. This is not the case. The MPNP continues to operate, and there are no changes to program or eligibility requirements.
On June 11, 2026 the MPNP instructed candidates eligible under both the Career Employment Pathway (CEP) and Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) to update their profiles from CEP to SWM. MPNP officials have confirmed that this change was intended to clear a processing backlog and does not affect new applicants. The CEP remains open and eligibility requirements are unchanged.
PACE’s immigration advisor attended an MPNP webinar where officials confirmed:

IRCC implemented updated rules for study permits and the Post‑Graduation Work Permit program, including more realistic financial requirements for applicants. Study permit eligibility requirements remain the same in principle, but students must now meet higher proof‑of‑funds thresholds and should review the latest IRCC guidance before applying.
PACE continues to align its programs with labour market needs in Manitoba and across Canada, and all full‑time PACE programs are structured to be PGWP‑eligible under current IRCC policy. The programs below highlight current offerings and new additions that qualify for PGWP consideration.

Important Things to Note for PACE Students:
International students applying for study permits before November 1, 2024, will be eligible to apply for a PGWP upon graduation, regardless of which PACE program you are enrolled in.
If you are applying for a study permit after November 1, 2024, you must enroll in a PACE program that is identified as PGWP-eligible in order to work in Canada after graduation.
We are dedicated to providing programs that align with your post-graduation career aspirations. As we work to expand the list of PGWP-eligible programs, we encourage you to check back for updates. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us at applytopace@uwinnipeg.ca.
