Funding & Financial Aid
Students attending programs at PACE are eligible for many funding possibilities such as bursaries, scholarships, government student aid, lines of credit, and sponsorship.
Financial Aid is administered by the Awards and Financial Aid Office, which supports the access and excellence mandate of The University of Winnipeg through a comprehensive program of scholarships, awards, prizes and bursaries.

Curtis Nordman Bursary in Continuing Education
This bursary is awarded annually to an adult learner who demonstrates financial need and who has completed at least two courses in a PACE certificate or diploma program. Eligible students may receive up to $500.
Henry Rieff Stewart Memorial Scholarship for Adult Learners
This scholarship will be awarded to a PACE certificate or diploma student on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Eligible students may receive up to $250.
Louis Riel Bursary
These bursaries are established by the Louis Riel Institute of the Manitoba Métis Federation. They will be awarded annually to full-time entering or returning students with financial need who are of Métis status. Eligible students may receive up to $2,500.
Opportunity Fund Fast-Track Bursary
Bursaries will be awarded to students who show academic promise and financial need, and who come from a population currently under-represented at The University of Winnipeg. Eligible students may receive up to $3,000 per year.
Professional, Applied and Continuing Education (PACE) Staff Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a PACE certificate or diploma student on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Eligible students may receive up to $400.

Bookstore Gift Cards

Value: $50 to $100
Awarded: September (Deadline August 15)
Criteria: based on Manitoba Student Aid Program amount, students should start the MSA application process in June and provide a copy of assessment to PACE Registration Office.
Connor, Clark and Lund Book Award
(no application required)
Number of available awards: 1
Value: $100
Awarded: annually at the PACE Graduation Ceremony
Criteria: based on highest GPA in relation to determining factors. Award is based on several factors suchs as: lenght of program, level of program, difficulty of program.
External Aid
External Aid
Below are some examples of financial assistance students can access to assist with paying for school. These programs are offered by the government, private organizations and community partners. PACE students are eligible for many other external funding opportunities.
Manitoba Hydro Certificate Program Award
Number of available awards: 2
Value: $500
Application Deadline: October 12
Criteria: Student must be enrolled in 1 of the following certificate programs: Administrative Assistant, Human Resources Assistant, Contact Centre Representative, Business & Administrative Studies, Computer Applications, Network Support, or Electrical
Educational Authority Sponsorship
If you are of First Nations heritage you may be eligible for sponsorship through your First Nation Community. Please contact your community Board of Education for more information on the process.
Manitoba Hydro Engineering, Trades and Technology Bursary for Women
Number of available awards: 3
Value: $1,500
Application Deadline: October 12
Criteria: Student must be enrolled in an Information Technology program (diploma or degree).
Government Student Aid
Government Student Aid
Loans and grants can be accessed by full-time and part-time students. UWinnipeg also offers sessions on guiding you through the forms and documentation required for a successful loan application.
What is Government Student Aid?
The Government of Canada offers student grants and loans to full-time and part-time students. Grants and loans help students pay for their post-secondary education.
- apply for grants and loans in one application, directly with your province of residence
- you don't need to repay grants you receive
- you need to repay loans after finishing school, with interest
- you may be eligible for more than 1 type of grant - when you apply with your province, they will assess your eligibility for all available grants
Benefits of Government Student Aid
- No interest while you are a full-time student
- No payments required while you are a full-time student
- No co-signer or collateral required
- Applying for a provincial loan initiates the process by which your eligibility is evaluated for grants
- Assistance is available if you experience financial hardships during repayment
How Much Funding Can I Get?
The amount you can receive in grants and loans is calculated when you apply with your province or territory.
Assessments are done for each student independently.
The amount you can receive depends on several factors, including:
- your province or territory of residence
- your family income
- if you have dependents
- your tuition fees and living expenses
- if you have a disability

This 17-minute presentation will provide a thorough overview of the process and include such topics as how to apply, what loans and grants are, the stages of a student loan, repayment information and how to use your National Student Loan account.

Lifelong Learning Plan
The Lifelong Learning Plan allows students to withdraw amounts from RRSP to finance full-time programs.
Manitoba Education and Training
If you are currently receiving benefits or have been on Employment Insurance in the past five years you may be eligible for funding. For more information please visit your local Service Canada office.

The Regulated Annual Training Grant
For students enrolled/enrolling in the Advanced Diploma In Leadership In Early Childhood Care And Education Program ($350) is available through The Province of Manitoba.
The student must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Regulated Annual Training Grant:
1. Employed at a licensed non-profit child care centre
2. Classified as an ECE ll and eligible to receive an ECE lll upon completion of the ADLECCE Program
* Childcare Centre Directors must apply for this grant on behalf of the employee.
Registered Education Savings
Upon enrolling in a qualifying educational program, a course of study that lasts at least three consecutive weeks, with a minimum of 10 hours of instruction or work per week, the child named in your plan will become eligible to receive payments from the RESP to help cover the costs of education after high school.
Canada-Manitoba Job Grant
The Canada-Manitoba Job Grant is an employer-driven approach to help Manitobans gain the skills they need to fill available jobs and to help employers develop the skills of their existing workers to meet the requirements of their present job, or to move into a better job.
