We’re shining the spotlight on Pratheek Jain Pramath, Supply Chain Coordinator at Gardewine. Pratheek earned his Supply Chain Management Diploma from UWinnipeg PACE just over a year ago, in 2021.
Pratheek says the internship opportunity at the end of the program was one of the main reasons he chose PACE.
“The internship from PACE allowed me to showcase my skills and experience in the supply chain field.”
Pratheek was hired for his role at Gardewine straight from his internshipat the company at the end of his intensive 13-month program.
Pratheek says the professional environment of courses at PACE, instructors from the industry, and career support built into the program in the form of a resume-building class, practice interviews, and networking opportunities help set him up for success.
“During my program, the instructors explained real-life scenarios and examples of how to apply the concepts that we learn from the module and always keep improving,” says Pratheek.
“The case study type learning helped me to understand the different layers of process and steps to address the issues in my work.”
Pratheek says his most valuable lesson from PACE was professionalism, time management skills, and understanding of the Canadian work culture. Improving his writing, speaking, and presenting skills was also a highlight for him.
In his role as Supply Chain Coordinator at Gardewine, Pratheek is responsible for a range of supply chain management tasks including sourcing and procurement of fleet maintenance parts, tools, and services for Winnipeg and 12 other terminals across Canada; implementing process improvements, communicating with the service department on overall supply chain bottlenecks/issues and offer solutions; planning, organizing, and coordinating with service department regarding parts availability for upcoming service work in the shop; and many other tasks.
For those considering the Supply Chain Management program, Pratheek says the supply chain field is one experiencing growth, offering excellent opportunities to graduates.
“The recognition of supply chain management is growing rapidly and Winnipeg will see an increase in demand for supply chain professionals,” says Pratheek. “The value of the PACE program in the industry is high, there are a lot of career opportunities after the program.”
