This course will provide useful, practical strategies for reading texts, taking notes, getting the most out of lectures, studying for exams and writing term papers. You will gain an understanding of the key elements involved in effective listening, various learning styles, memory enhancement, and time management. This course will also help you understand your individual learning preferences and style.

Objectives

This course is intended to serve as a preparatory course for individuals seeking to pursue university studies

Outcomes

Through this course, students will become familiar with the nature and demands of university study and will acquire personal strategies and attitudes that will enhance their ability to function effectively in a university environment

Admission Requirements

Be a high school graduate or hold a Mature Status Diploma.
- MUST provide High School Transcript or recognized equivalent GED or Mature Grade 12 Diploma.

Be 18 years of age or older and have completed 90 hours of coursework or more at a recognized post-secondary institution (including UWPACE) with minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- MUST provide an official transcript for all previous post-secondary study (including university, CEGEP, or private college).

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting one of the accepted English language proficiency measures.
