This capstone course will focus on developing students’ enterprise-level business analysis skills. Business strategy is typically the domain of senior and experienced analysts, as it requires the ability to consider potential risks, opportunities, and value. Strategy analysis often involves collaborating with strategic leaders to understand business goals and propose ways to deliver business value. In this course, students will develop their own business case, applying the skills and knowledge gained throughout the program. The business case will include strategic elements including current state, business objectives, a future state description, potential value, risk analysis, change strategy and solution scope.

Outcomes

On completion of this course students should be able to:

  • Synthesize all skills developed to develop a business case by eliciting and documenting current state, analyzing and designing a target state, identifying and assessing related risks, identifying gaps and proposing a change strategy
  • Calculate costs and benefits related to a proposed solution, using standard methods including payback period, internal rate of return, present value, future value
  • Perform SWOT analysis
  • Define business context
  • Explain and apply the principles of capability modeling
