This course builds on the base courses of Leadership Development and Leading Self, preparing the students to lead others to achieve their full potential. Students will review research on neuroscience in relation to leadership, understanding the interplay between thoughts and emotions, empathy (cognitive, emotional, and empathic), physical environment, and courage in understanding change and building strong relationships. Students will discern the principles of building healthy teams to create work cultures that provide a psychologically safe workplace and review team dynamics and the role of the leader in sustaining high-performing teams. Additionally, by reviewing the science of crucial conversations, effective communications, and change leadership, students will explore the impact that their behaviours and responses have on performance and engagement.

Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  •  Consider the adaptive leadership framework and how the adaptive approach and techniques can help you and your team and organization make progress on tough challenges and thrive
  • Understand your role as Leader as an Adaptive Leader, Leader as Culture Builder and Leader as Team Builder
  • Diagnose teams to identify the ways to strengthen the team and diagnose at the organization/system level to identify the ways to strengthen the organization
  •  Leverage the power of inspiring share vision to align and engage your people to support a change initiative
  •  Identify the range of strategies and tools to mobilize self and others from where you are (Diagnosis) to where you want to be (Vision)
