Full Stack Web Development Diploma

Gain essential training in Full Stack Web Development, from web design, to developing, and deploying web applications, this program develops a complete skill set for web development professionals. Graduates will gain experience with a wide variety of web programming technologies and developing modern front-end and back-end solutions with attention to security and scalability.

When Should I Apply?

Applications open one year before each program start date.

We strongly advise applicants to apply early as space is limited and demand for full-time programs is extremely high.

Key Application Deadlines

  • For programs that start in January, applications open one year in advance and close Sep. 15 the year prior to the year the programs runs (EXAMPLE: program starts Jan. 2, 2025; apps open Jan 15, 2024, apps close Sep 15, 2024).

  • For programs that start in May, applications open one year in advance and close Jan. 15 the year the program runs (EXAMPLE: program starts May 2, 2025; apps open May 15, 2024; apps close Jan 15, 2025).

  • For programs that start in September, applications open one year in advance and close May 15 the year the programs runs (EXAMPLE: program starts Sep. 2, 2025; apps open Sep 15, 2024, apps close May 15, 2025).

Tuition & Fees

$12,175: Tuition includes UWSA and health insurance fees. Costs are subject to change.*

$1,500 - $2,000: Textbook and software costs may vary depending on new, rental, used, or electronic purchasing choices. Textbooks and software are a requirement.

Duration

12 months in duration, Mon-Fri, days and hours vary and classes may be scheduled during the daytime or evenings between 9AM and 4PM. Some courses may be delivered in our blended online format.

Holidays and breaks are provided throughout the program duration.

Hybrid Program

This program follows a blended learning model, combining in-class sessions, live online instruction, and scheduled online coursework to create a dynamic and adaptable educational experience.

Courses are carefully structured to balance in-person interaction with the convenience of online learning. Live online sessions allow students to engage with instructors and classmates in real-time, while scheduled online coursework provides flexibility in when they complete assignments within set deadlines. The number and format of online courses may vary based on program needs and scheduling.

This multi-modal approach ensures that students stay connected with their peers and instructors while developing essential workplace skills such as digital collaboration, adaptability, accountability, and effective communication. While students must follow the program’s set schedule, this blended format allows them to engage with learning in different ways, whether attending classes on campus, participating in live online discussions, or completing coursework independently. 

Objectives & Outcomes

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be able to:

  • Design a professional modern website.
  • Implement their UX/UI design using an understanding of front-end development, and programming languages (E.g. HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript).
  • Design and implement the architecture required to support the business requirements using an MVC design pattern in a flexible back-end development language
  • Set up a local server for application data storage
  • Configure cloud resources for the data storage of the application
  • Transition a local server data storage solution to a cloud server
  • Identify and mitigate security risks for both an on-premise and cloud server

Admission Requirements

 

Academic Requirements

a. High School, with proficiency in HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, SQL
or
b. Completion of IT professional designations/degree 
or
c. Minimum of 1 years of professional experience working in IT (experience with HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, SQL)
 

Work Experience

  • Applicants who have completed an IT degree within the past two years, with coursework in HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, SQL, are not required to have work experience.

  • For applicants without a related degree, one year of work experience with HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, SQL is required.

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit proof of meeting one of the accepted English language proficiency measures.

Tech Requirements

Students must have a laptop that meets the following requirements for their program (not included in tuition).

Adobe Photoshop Software is required. Students can try Photoshop with a seven-day free trial of the Creative Cloud All Apps plan. The All Apps plan provides access to over 20 apps, including Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro, plus 100GB of cloud storage. After the free trial expires, the student membership price is CAD $25.99/mo for the first year, and CAD $45.99/mo after that,  Adobe Photoshop for students | Adobe

 

⚠️ Tablets are not recommended for use in any program. Some required software may not be fully compatible with tablets, particularly Android devices. Students should ensure they have access to a laptop that meets the specifications below.

  • OS: Windows 11 (64 Bit) Pro or Home version (Windows 10 would be accepted).
    Note: Windows should be up to date (e.g. 23-24H2)
  • Processor: 12th Gen Intel core i5+
  • Graphics: A strong graphics card is recommended for IT and programs that require multimedia design (e.g., NVIDIA GeForce technology); for other programs, an Intel graphics card (e.g., Intel Iris Xe Graphics) is recommended.
  • Memory (RAM): 16+ GB, DDR4+.
  • Hard Drive: 500+ GB, M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD.
  • Connectivity: Intel Wi-Fi 5-6 AX201, 2x2, 802.11ax, Bluetooth wireless card, HDMI, USB type A and Type C.
  • Should include an HD (720P+) webcam for Zoom classes.
Apple hardware
  • MacOS: Ventura or later
  • Processor: Apple’s M1, M2 or M3 chip with at least 8 Core CPU.
  • Graphics: 10 core GPU.
  • Memory (RAM): 16+ GB.
  • Hard Drive: 500+ GB, SSD.
  • Should include FaceTime HD (720P+) webcam for zoom classes.
  • Software to run Virtualization for Microsoft Windows:
    • Parallels Desktop or Virtual box

This full-time program includes an un-paid internship opportunity. The internship will help you develop a working portfolio and gain tangible work experience.
