After graduating from the University of Winnipeg in 2006 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, I knew that I would need to specialize in a specific area in order to remain competitive and set myself apart from the hundreds of other graduates. Fortunately, during my undergraduate studies, I realized my passion for Human Resources. This led me to enroll in PACE's Human Resource Management Diploma program in 2007.
I worked in the travel industry for 10 years prior to going back to university. I owned my own travel business for 7 years and then worked as a Business Development Manager for a leading travel company for 3 years. Due to the declining economy positions were cut and mine was one of them. At that moment what I thought was a misfortune became my biggest blessing.
Kate Hudson graduated from PACE’s Human Resources Development program. Prior to PACE, Hudson worked at a local retailer right out of high school. She came to PACE and completed the full-time accelerated program to explore the field of human resources.
Two days after writing my last university exam, I began working in the accounting department for a large company in downtown Winnipeg. After nearly two years, I found myself feeling unhappy and unfulfilled in my chosen field. I began questioning my career choice, and met with a close friend working in Human Resources to discuss my next career move. We spoke about my areas of interest, such as teaching, training, and the CPHR designation.
Rachel O’Connor graduated in June of 2015 from the full-time Human Resources Management Diploma program having already secured a position at Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI).
“PACE basically led me right into my career,” she says. “I found interesting, stimulating employment" three weeks into an internship she was completing for the program.
Before coming to PACE, Rachel was working in the non-profit sector.
